Infected

There is a pandemic that is sweeping our nation, one so deadly and devastating that if not cured could very easily wipe out an entire tribe of people.  It is not Ebola or Aids or an unknown deadly flu.  The virus I am talking about is False Teaching.  It can be contracted through the mediums of television and radio and has also been known to be carried by church pastors into the local body, infecting and spreading the virus.  Once infected, the symptoms are only slowly noticeable and those infected often show no signs of infection at all.  If left untreated, the virus will continue to spread and has the potential to infect some irreversibly.  If this occurs, there is little hope of being healed.

This is a very serious disease and must be quarantined at all costs.  If you believe you or a loved one may have been infected, notify the Authorities immediately.  This disease can be reversed by carefully and systematically reading the Instruction Book given to you by the Authorities.  Regular and consistent doses of time spent in the Book and in talking to the Authorities will eventually reverse any and all symptoms of false teaching.

Avoid false teaching.  Be in the Word.

The  Shoreless  Sea

For God's love is literally infinite.  It is the shoreless sea we are destined to swim in, surf in, and grow in forever.  - Peter Kreeft

That. Is. Amazing.  The shoreless sea of God's love, beautiful and infinite.  He loves us with love unfeigned, unbound, unfettered and free.  His love cannot be surpassed by anyone nor should our love for Him be surpassed by our love for anything.  He is to be our chief desire, sole love, and greatest affection.

To be like Him should be our highest goal alongside that of pleasing Him.  To walk well and worthy ought be our constant focus.  May He cause these things to be accomplished in us that we might, indeed, walk well and worthy before Him!

Let us revel in the shoreless sea of His love, today!

More Important than Food

When I walk by the wayside, He is along with me... Amid all my forgetfulness of Him, He never forgets me.
- Thomas Chalmers

This little quote brings with it quite a condemnation - for so often the heinous crime is committed of forgetting God.  Forgetfulness, not of mistaken or misplaced memory, but often of willful laziness, a lack of concern and total disregard of the one relationship most vital, is often the case.  There is a sense in which I want to ask, "For Christians, is there any sin greater than this?'  To willfully choose to ignore or otherwise neglect one's relationship with the Lord on high - when He died for the very existence of that relationship!

Oh what treason we commit when we desert the King for any lesser subject and instead place that upon the throne!  What treason and yet we are granted pardon when the sentence befitting us is death.  Let us not take this lightly for if we do, we then trample upon the grace of God by choosing to commit this crime in a manner so repeated it becomes habitual; we tread upon His grace by expecting it endlessly to be given.

My dear brothers and sisters, let us endeavor to make our relationship with the living God of absolute and utmost importance in our lives.  Let us make it our waking thought and restful sigh at the close of each day.  Let us see it become more important than food and as vital as the air we breathe.  For truly, without Him we neither live nor move nor have our being.

Worthless

During a recent conversation, a friend made the comment that they were amazed God uses them.  This person's past isn't the best and that fact still pops up from time to time, but you know what God sees in them?  God sees a person who has been redeemed, washed, cleaned, and made new.  Because that is exactly who we are as children of God!  Our standing before the Lord of the universe is one of the most incredible things to dwell upon.  Though we should be ashamed, clothed in rags and dirty, we are cleansed, clothed in white robes of righteousness, and called sons and daughters.  We have an inheritance in the Kingdom because our father is the King!

I hope this blesses you or someone you know - someone who doubts why God would use them, someone who wonders at His mercy and grace, someone who unaccountably finds themselves to be a child of the King,  when instead they should be owned by His enemy.

Worthless

Out of the ashes, my spirit
It rises.
All of the filth
And all I despise is

Stripped away,
My soul laid bare.
Nothing to hide,
No innocence there.

"Guilty," I plead.
"Guilty," You judge.
I feel worthless, abandoned
But I hold no grudge.

Decision made,
Gavel comes down
Condemned to die
No earthly crown.

Then the One who is greater
And wiser than all
Stops all proceedings
Steps into the hall.

"Do you want to be rescued?"
He says in front of the noose
His hands open, pleading
Mine, hanging there loose

"But I'm worthless," is all
My breathless reply.
His eyes fill with love
His chest heaves a sigh.

"No child of mine
Can 'worthless' be called
You are mine, I have bought you
Let not freedom be stalled."

"But LORD who am I
That so this should be?"
"It is not about you, child
But all about Me.

"I have paid for your sins,
Put them away.
Now rise, take My name
You're My son today."
